Russian officials have finally approved the 2009 budget for Total's Kharyaga field in Timan-Pechora - the only production sharing agreement project without a major Russian partner. The budget was increased to $403.7 million from the $302 million approved for 2008, a Russian energy ministry spokeswoman told International Oil Daily. The government asked Total to justify the planned increase in late 2008, and the ministry had withheld approval on the grounds the French major did not go into enough detail (IOD Mar.20,p8).
