Exxon Tops US, Shell World

US supermajor Exxon Mobil beat discount retailer Wal-Mart Stores to top Fortune magazine's list of the 500 biggest publicly traded companies in the US based on revenue last year. The Fortune 500 list showed that Exxon regained the top spot, raking in $442.9 billion of revenues in 2008, despite last year's decline in energy prices. Wal-Mart fell to No. 2 after topping the list for six of the past seven years.
