摘要

Non-government organizations (NGOs) are praising the US financial regulatory reform bill that will soon become law for its impact on financial transparency in the oil and gas industry, but oil companies affected by the new rules worry the law could hurt their competitive standing. A provision in Congress’ Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act requires all companies registered with the US Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC) to report detailed information about payments they make to foreign governments in connection with oil and gas development.
