Exxon Joins TransCanada Alaska Gas Pipe

Exxon Mobil has agreed to work with Canadian pipeline giant TransCanada on development of the long proposed Alaska natural gas pipeline project to transport gas currently stranded on Alaska's North Slope to markets in Canada and the US lower 48. The $26 billion, 4.5 billion cubic feet per day venture would run from the Prudhoe Bay field on Alaska's North Slope to near Fairbanks, then turn east to cross the Yukon Territory in Canada. It would terminate at an interconnection with the existing Canadian natural gas network at the British Columbia-Alberta border.
