The Supreme Council of Energy, established by decree over the weekend, will oversee state firms' import efforts and ensure coordination with the power sector, a senior Dubai official tells International Oil Daily. Electricity demand has soared as a result of a tourism and construction boom over the past decade, but lack of gas means the emirate still relies on oil for feedstock during the peak-demand summer months.
