Russia, Korea Advance Gas Talks

Moscow and Seoul continue to study ways of delivering Russian gas to South Korea. The issue was on the agenda when Russian Energy Minister Sergei Shmatko met with South Korean Minister of Knowledge Economy Lee Youn-ho in Moscow on Friday, where they inked a document on energy cooperation that Lee said outlined "priority actions." The document is reportedly part of a $100 billion resource agreement signed in September 2008 that envisaged supplying Korea with Russian gas, cooperation in exploration and production, construction work in East Siberia and electricity swaps.
