Two new tetranuclear copper(II) complexes: Structure and magnetic studies

The syntheses, structural characterization and magnetic behaviour of two new tetranuclear copper(II) compounds with formulae [Cu-4(mu(2)-PhCOO)(2)(mu-bdmap)(2)(mu(1,3)-N-3)(2)(N-3)(2)(H2O)(2)] 1, and [Cu-4(mu(2)-PhCOO)(2)(mu-bdmap)(2)(mu(1,3)-N-3)(2)(PhCOO)(2)(CH3OH)(2)]( 2), in which bdmap is 1,3-bis(dimethylamino)-2-propanolato are reported herein. The magnetic behaviour of the two complexes has been checked giving a bulk antiferromagnetic coupling in the two cases with J values of -85.4 and -89.5 cm (1) for 1 and 2, respectively.
