The gas flow between parallel plates caused by their movement in a longitudinal direction (Couette flow) for wide range of the rarefaction parameter is a well studied in a linear approximation and can be used as a test for the investigation of gas kinetic models and the approximate methods of their implementation [1], [2], [3], [4], [5]. The numerical solution of the full Boltzmann equation for the case of the plate at rest may be found in [6]. The results of the implementation of the non-linear BGK kinetic model for some values of the plate velocities and of the temperature difference between the plates are given in [7]. The nonlinear ES-model is solved in [8] for two values of the rarefaction parameter. The use of the DSMC technique for the case of the isothermal plates and for the plate at rest maintained by the different temperatures may be found in [9] and [10], respectively.
