Field experiments were conducted at Soil and Water management Research Institute, kattuthottam, Thanjavur to assess the impact of inorganic and organic package on the soil organic carbon content and soil microbial load in maize-rice-greengram croppingsystem. Eight treatments were evaluated. The soil organic carbon content and soil microbial load was found to be increased by the application of organic manures to each crop. Tlie addition of farmyard manure, vermicompost, neemcake and biofertilizers significantly contributed to the improvement in soil organic carbon content and soil microbial population. Application of 50% recommended NPK as inorganics + 50% N as FYM also improved the soil organic carbon. Soil organic carbon content urns found to be low in control treatment without organic addition.
