摘要

The short-range order in undercooled meltsis of fundamental interest, because it is predictedto influence the energy of the interface between theliquid and a solid nucleus. This in turn has a decisiveimpact on the nucleation behaviour of solid phasesfrom the undercooled melt, and by means of thatdetermines the properties of the as-solidified materials.This work gives a review of theoretical andexperimental investigations on the short-range orderin undercooled melts and its effect on the solid-liquid interfacial energy.
