摘要

Replacing soya bean meal with alternative protein sources will reduce water consumption and may lead to dryer litter and decrease the incidence of foot pad dermatitis in growing turkeys.Foot pad dermatitis (FPD) is a prevalent condition of growing poultry that is related to the moisture content of the litter (Hocking, Stevenson & Beard, 2013). Soya bean meal has a high potassium content associated with wet litter, and different energy (cereal) sources varying in non-starch polysaccharide content may also affect the water intake. An experiment was therefore conducted to quantify the water intakein 4 diets containing wheat or maize with soya or non-soya protein sources.
