摘要

Plasma levels of vitamin A, beta-carotene, vitamin E, selenium and zinc were measured in 18 pluriparous buffaloes, 10 of which had suffered from placental retention. The result showed no marked or significant differences in the mean values of plasmavitamin A, selenium and zinc between the groups. Buffaloes with placental retention had a lower mean beta-carotene and vitamin E profile. The study suggests that the lower peripartum concentrations of beta-carotene and vitamin E in plasma may be associated with placental retention in the buffaloes under investigation. Mineral contents (Se and Zn) of placental tissue were lower, but not significantly, in the buffaloes with retained placentas than in the control group.
