Oestrus was synchronized in Black Bengal goats with 2 injections of PGF2alpha 11 days apart. The animals were treated with subcutaneous injections (7 ml) steroid-free buffalo follicular fluid (buFF) at 12 h intervals for 36 h (group I, n = 4) and 72h (group II, n = 5) starting at the 2nd PG injection, while their respective controls (n = 3 for each group) received sterile saline in an identical schedule. Blood samples were collected once on day -1, daily from day 7 to day 15 and at 12-h intervalsfrom day 0 to day 6 for plasma oestradiol-17beta and progesterone assay. For groups I and II the interval form the 2nd PG injection to oestrus was 116.00+-4.00 and 180.40+-9.40 h respectively; it was 70.60+-18.80 and 74.60+-9.33 h for the respective controlgroups. PG treatment reduced plasma progesterone level in all animals. The interval from PG injection to >1 ng/ml plasma progesterone was delayed by 1 and 4 days in groups I and II respectively compared with control animals. Plasma oestradiol-17beta levels were not affected by buFF treatment.
