Nasoethmoid schwannoma with intracranial extension. Case report and review of literature.

George and Price have clearly described the rare entity of Nasoethmoid Schwannoma with intracra-nial extension. I read this case report and review of literature with interest since my own group published a similar case in 1998. This was a 50-year-old female with a 3-year history of frontal headaches, anosmia and gradual bilateral visual deterioration due to optic nerve compression. MRI revealed a large tumour filling the entire nasal complex and extending inferiorly to the hard palate. There was a significant intracranial extension, which had been partially removed via frontal craniotomy in Libya. The accompanying figure shows sagittal contrast enhanced MRI: note the involvement of the nasal bridge.
