BOREALIS has a new halogen-free flame retardant compound for energy cable jackets.Its Casico FR6082 grade also provides high physical strength,toughness and good UV protection to polyethylene-based cable jackets.Borealis formulated Casico FR6082 to combine physical toughness with low-toxicity combustion fumes.The compound is notable for wear resistance,and delivers the strength and toughness required for both overhead and underground energy cable applications.UV protection is provided by well dispersed carbon black but a natural compound is also available for colourable energy cable jacketing.The new grade can be processed on extruders designed for either PVC or polyethylene production,and results in cables with a smooth glossy appearance.In addition,FR6082 offers all the benefits of the patented Borealis Casico technology.Perhaps the most significant of these is the ability to produce lightweight and cost effective cables because of the modest filler requirement.
