Changes in the polaron-like local distortions are strongly correlated with the magnetization in the CMR manganites,f or bulk powders, thin films and co-doped material. In addition the e_g bands are temperature dependent near T_c - but only for CMR materials. These results emphasize the subtle balance of interaction in these systems.
