Skills strategies set out to prepare for future growth

Greater efforts are now needed by the sector to show more young people that a career in transportation can be both exciting and fulfilling, participants to a CIHT roundtable have stressed. Successful delivery of several major transport infrastructure projects in the near future will depend on a significant upswing in the quantity and quality of people entering the profession. In addition, a wider range of emerging skills will be needed over the next few generations to keep pace with likely changes in the way work is delivered.
