摘要

The objective of this paper is to explore the effect of these parameters such as peak current, pulse on time and pulse off time on metal removal rate, surface roughness, white layer thickness and surface crack density in EDM of RENE 80 nickel super alloy using Taguchi method. It is found that all responses are affected mainly by peak current and pulse on time. The experimental results reveal that metal removal rate, surface roughness and white layer thickness tend to increase with increase of peak current and pulse on time whereas surface crack density tend to decrease with increase of peak current and pulse on time. Also regression models are developed for all responses and found satisfactory. Finally, the detailed analysis of surface topography has shown that there is little difference in phases of unmachined surface and machined surfaces.
