摘要

Although the authors' response to our letter to the editor clarified several points, we still feel that our main criticism has not been answered: raisins sold in the EU are not visually contaminated by black Aspergilli, and can thus not reach the very high levels of fumonisins claimed in Varga et al. (2010). Furthermore, properly preserved raisins are far too dry to support Aspergillus growth in the packages and Fusarium spp. are not known to grow on either grapes or raisins so it is unlikely that this is the source as partly indicated in the response letter.
