摘要

We are all more and more aware of sounds and noises. We are constantly bombarded with bleeps, advertising jingles, car, train and road works noise, and ever-increasingly, music from personal stereos. These little hard drives with 20 000 songs on them are everywhere and the problems with them start in the ears. With the advent of lawsuits against Apple claiming that iPods can and will damage hearing and Pete Townsend (of the Who) saying that he has constant tinnitus from years of wearing headphones in the recording studio, there is a major issue here. And however annoying other people's music is, the real problem is that many personal stereo users are damaging their ears.
