STOCHASTIC ANALYSIS OF A SYSTEM WITH REPLACEMENT OF UNIT AND SERVER SUBJECT TO INSPECTION

This paper presents the stochastic analysis of a single-unit system. The system fails completely either directly from normal mode or via partial failure. There is a single server who is subjected to failure while performing jobs. Server inspects theunit at its partial failure to see the feasibility of the repair. If its repair is not feasible, it is replaced immediately by new one. However, repair of the unit at its complete failure is done without inspection. The failed server undergoes for treatment by an expert person (may be a medical doctor). If server is not curable by treatment, he is replaced immediately by another server to resume the jobs. The failure time of the unit and server are distributed exponentially while the distributions of inspection and repair times of the unit as well as treatment and inspection times of the server are taken as arbitrary. Various reliability measures are derived using semi-Markov process and regenerative point technique. The profit analysis of system modelhas also been made for arbitrary values of various parameters and costs.
