摘要

The meaning of 'Efficient Performance of engine' in letter and spirit goes hand and glove with two factors vice, efficient use & exploitation of fuel energy and less harmful emissions. The performance of compression ignition (C.I.) engines on ecological disturbances is a major concern due to problems like ozone layer depletion, global warming and acid rain etc. From the past decades researchers are working for the improvement in efficiency and control of emission in C.I. engines those energized with alternate and fossil fuels, especially with various blends of oxygenated and nano sized metal & metal oxide additives. In this review paper, various such related works were studied and presented to get a overall perspective on the pros and cons of combustion of such fuels, which shall pave way for further research insight in working on C.I.engine with a objective to evaluate their effects on thermal, emission, performance & tribological characteristic behaviours in combustion, consequentially which will have a societal benefit in reality.
