An unforgettable change of perspective

I am a 28 year-old student, I have just finished my second year, and I am about to begin my third year. Now I am starting to apply for jobs, the end feels :e it's in sight and within reach. Reflecting on my nursing journey, I n see how much I have developed, th academically and personally. The ggest change for me, though, is my own prception of health and patient care—from here I started to where I am now. Previously, I worked as a community rer. This gave me the foundation for basic irsing care and the experience I needed begin my nursing career. Being a carer stilled the confidence and passion in me to come a nurse. As a carer, my perspective patient care was to provide assistance, a endly chat, and a helping hand. My idea 'health' was very limited. I knew my litations and would often contact the strict nurses or the patient's GP to ask sm to attend to the patient. Now, with guidance from the University Salford, and my mentor in practice, m able to use the knowledge and derstanding I have gained to underpin my prictice. I now look at a patient holistically d in more depth; I try to understand the patient and their health from all aspects. I nk about how, as a student nurse, I can meet their individual, unique needs.
