Infectious bursal disease with concurrent infection of E. coli and coccidiosis : haemogram and serum chemistry.

An outbreak of infectious bursal disease in 400 white leghorn layers (6 weeks old), reared in on deep litter in Madras, lasted 5 days with morbidity of 75% and mortality was 25%. The birds were also infected with Escherichia coli and coccidia. Compared with a control flock, affected birds showed a slight increase in haemoglobin levels, decreased erythrocyte counts and increased leukocyte counts. Serum globulin levels were increased and albumin decreased. Creatine and cholesterol levels and alkalinephosphate activities were increased.
