STUDIES ON SOME ECONOMIC TRAITS OF BLACK BENGAL GOAT UNDER AGRO-CLIMATIC CONDITIONS OF NADIA DISTRICT IN WEST BENGAL

摘要

The Bengal breeds of goats (Capra hircus bengalensis) are widely distributed in West Bengal, Bihar, Assam and adjoining areas. They are short legged having compact body, producing excellent quality meat and skin (Morocco type leather) is compe-ratively superior to other breeds that have demand both in India and abroad. But it is found that very little scientific works have been done by the scientists for the improvement, preservation and distribution of Bengal breed of goat. Keeping in view of that above considerations the present study has been undertaken with the objective to evaluate the effect of economic traits on Black Bengal goats.
