CAUSES OF DUCK MORTALITY IN AN ORGANIZED GOVERNMENT FARM

摘要

A total of 2497 duck died out of 18405 population for a period of two years. The average mortality(%) found to be 13.57%, breed wise highest mortality recorded in Khaki (21.98), White Pekin (13.76), muscovy (10.16) and least desi (5.86). Mortality ofducks in different ages varied, highest mortality recorded in ducklings (30.3%) and least in adult (4.88%). Variation of disease death also varied in different seasons. Major diseases those claimed mortality (%) were predation (21.62), enteritis (19.70), debility (19.26) corneal opacity (10.81), inanition/ starvation (7), septicaemia (5.17), pneumonia (3.08), hepatitis (3.0) and others.
