A detailed genome-wide comparison of DNA diversity of industrial strain Saccharomyces cerevisiae gxas02and S288c

The nucleotide acid diversity of the whole genome of S. cerevisiae strain gxas02, an industrial yeast production ethanol using the sugarcane juice, and S288c were investigated and compared by array-based comparative genome hybridization (CGH). The whole 6388 genes in 16 chromosomes from gxas02 were detected, and 255 genes have obviously changed in copy number. These changed genes mostly decreased or depleted compared with S288c. They were further analyzed by different classification, such as locationwith telomeres and centromeres or characterization of ORF. The results showed that there were major differences owning to the sub-telomeric instability and Ty elements variant between two strains. At the whole genome level, gxas02 and wine yeast are much more similar than to clinical yeast, but also have more detailed differences between two yeasts. The reason maybe they are both industrial strains under similar condition.
