Recent developments in shiploader design have brought the industry closer to an optimal solution for minimizing inefficiency, demurrage and operating costs. This paper will discuss these advances and will compare conventional single shiploaders with a new dual system that represents a step forward not only for continuous shipleading technology, but also for an environmentally conscious world. The comparison will be based en shiploaders designed to provide the necessary hatch coverage for an average 65,000 Dead Weight Ten bulk carrier.
