A field experiment were carried out at the Experimental farm, Department of Agronomy, Faculty of Agriculture, Annamalai University, Annamalai Nagar during 2008 - 2009 to evaluate the effect of organic, biofertilizers and inorganic sources of nutritionon productivity of rice in northern coastal Cauvery delta. The results revealed that the yield attributes (number of tillers hill1 and number of panicle m~2) and grain and straw yield of rice was maximum with the application 100 per cent recommended dose of fertilizers + Vermicompost @ 5 tons ha(-1) + Azospirillum @ 2 kg ha(-1) (M2S2). This was followed by 100 per cent recommended dose of fertilizers + Enriched FYM @ 12.5 tons ha(-1) + Azospirillum @ 2 kg h(-1) (M2S3). The integrated use of vermicompost Vermicompost @ 5 tons ha~(-1) + Azospirillum @ 2 kg ha(-1) along with 100 per cent recommended dose fertilizers resulted in maximum values of fertilizer resulted in maximum values of yield attributes, grain yield as well as NPK uptake of rice. Use of organic sources helps in maintaining soil fertility.
