摘要

Job scheduling and fault tolerance aims at efficient utilization of resources through better resource allocation even in case of resource failure. Grids withhold major problems including job scheduling and fault tolerance. The major problem that has been identified throughout various literature reviews is the lack of efficient resource utilization in scheduling and fault handling strategies. This work focuses on computational grid by proposing a Dynamic Time Quantum (DTQ) algorithm with checkpointing where all grid resources can be best utilized by time quantum initialization for efficient scheduling of resources and checkpoint initialization for fault tolerance. The proposed algorithm is evaluated using Gridsim toolkit and the results are compared with recent algorithms that are in use today. The analysis ensures that the proposed algorithm provide better performance by providing lesser execution time and better fault handling strategy.
