A Survey On Direct Detection Methods Of Gravitational Waves

摘要

Gravitational waves are a disturbances or ripples in the space-time that can travel with speed of light. Every massive object that moves or accelerates can produce the gravitational waves. However, the gravitational waves that produced on the earth are smaller to be detectable. Therefore, one possible solution is to observe the gravitational waves in the universe where they are generated by nature. This article introduces the basic concept of gravitational waves and its significant role in providing a completely new perspective of understanding the entire universe. Moreover, several types of gravitational waves are defined and discussed. It can be detected by instruments, which measure and analyze the induced length changes. Furthermore, different devices that take part in the discovery of gravitational waves are clearly discussed.
