摘要

Metamaterials represent a new paradigm in electromagnetic science and technology. They have already leaded to many unprecedented microwave applications. This paper will present an investigation on metamaterial antenna based on Complementary Split Ring Resonator (CSRR) by using its technique by placing it in the ground plane. The investigation is done by a commercial software. So, more than one objective can be achieved. First one is proving the idea of size reduction of antennas. The second one is exploiting the space in the ground plane if there is no space on the fully occupied patch with slots as in the second design and enhancing antenna performance. Also, from this design another resonance frequency at 2.4 GHz is generated to cover Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WI-MAX) band in addition to 3.05 GHz, 3.5 GHz and 4.8 GHz. CSRR unit cell dimensions are calculated to operate at 2.4 GHz. Finally, the effects of varying the geometry of CSRRs are analyzed. The study on the relation between the CSRR dimensions and the operating frequencies from the S_(11) curves proved that the relation between them is inversely proportional.
