Switching power supply and regulator circuit are some of the design for power application which make use of ferromagnetic inductors and transformers. These applications have creates a need for a model that can accurately describe the operation of nonlinear magnetic devices. Unfortunately, these devices exhibit several qualities that make modeling difficulty. In particular, the nonlinear hysteric nature and the wide variety of core topologies pose a challenge to generic modeling of such devices. It is impractical to model all possible configurations with a single model topology. Instead, a transformer model of arbitrary complexity can be assembled using a small see of building blocks composed of windings and core This dissertation work includes a fast and stable approach for numerical simulation of transient state of a single phase transformer. The simulation of the transformer nonlinear mathematical model is performed using a powerful tool of MATLAB/SIMULINK, Transient behavior of the transformer model during switching in at various loads has been tested. The proposed model seems to be sufficient to accurately simulate the transient and steady state behavior of transformer under loaded condition. Further, the proposed model has been compared and verified with the help of experimental set-up. Close agreement between experimental and simulated results proves the validity of the proposed model.
