摘要

The effect of a strong transverse magnetic field on separation of a binary mixture of incompressible viscous thermally and electrically conducting fluids is investigated when the fluid mixture is confined between two parallel plates one of which is at rest while the other is moving with a uniform velocity parallel to itself. The equations of motion, energy and concentration are solved analytically. The solution obtained in closed form for concentration distribution is plotted against the distance from the stationary plate for various values of non-dimensional parameters. It is found that the non-dimensional parameters viz, the baro-diffusion number, the Prandtl number, the Eckert number, the Sorret number, the Hartmann number, the Reynolds number and the Magnetic Reynolds number affects the species separation of rarer and lighter component significantly.
