Wound prevention and treatment is a global issue for health professionals, patients and policy makers alike. The need to avoid duplication of effort and to harness knowledge and experience has led to the recent publication of International Pressure Ulcer Guidelines (European Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel, 2009), while the fourth World Union ofWound Healing Societies conference is only two years away.
