Influence of supplementation of two herbal plants on egg quality and hatchability in layer birds

Various herbal formulations such as Liv-52, Livfit premix, Livol have been tried in layer birds to increase the egg production with superior qualities (Verma et al., 1995; Lal et al., 1996; Babu and Gajendran, 1993). The present investigation was conducted on 100 White Leghorn pullets of nearly identical body weight, age (about 5 months) and stage of sexual maturity. They were divided into 5 groups viz., G-I, G-II, G-III, G-IV and G-V of 20 birds each and fed with layer ration @ 125 g per bird supplemented with 0.0, 0.1,0.2,0.3 and 0.4 percent of Cissus quadrigularis and Terminalia arjuna herbal plants respectively, to evaluate the influence of these plants on egg qualities as well as on their hatchability in White Leghorn layers.
