A bullock of two and a half years of age was presented for treatment. The animal was apparently normal with a small swelling at the right lateral side of the abdominal wall. There was a history of injury at the site from the barbed wire fencing. When palpated the hernial contents were felt. The diameter of the hernial ring appeared to be about 5 cm. The volume of the content might be about 30 c.c.. Rectal temperature and pulse rate were found to be normal but the feed intake was reported to be declining gradually and there was progressive loss of body weight. However, the hernia was confirmed by palpation and the peculiar feeling of slipping the hernial content into the abdominal cavity when pressed. The condition was reported to be 7-8 months old.
