Application of single radial haemolysis for detection of goat pox viral antigen

An attempt has been made for diagnosis of goat pox viral antigen by Single Radial Haemolysis (SRH) test. Thirty eight samples were collected from naturally infected goat from the districts of West Bengal of which, 20 (52.63%) proved positive and 18(47.37%) proved negative by SRH test. However, alongwith, SRH test, CIE and AGPT were also performed to make a comparative study among the three serological tests as well as to find out the best one for the diagnosis of goat pox infection. Out of 38 test samples, SRH and CIE showed 53.63%, (20/38) positivity, while AGPT proved only 42.10% (16/38) positivity. Thus in detecting goat pox virus antigen SRH and CIE tests were found equally sensitive and superior to AGPT.
