Response to aromatase inhibitors linked to BMI

Women with a high BMI continue to have higher estrogen levels compared with women with a lower BMI, despite treatment with aromatase inhibitors. The results of a study published in the Journal of Clinical Oncology could lead to improvements in treatment choice for women with a high BMI. The ALIQUOT study set out to investigate whether suppression of plasma estra-diol and estrone sulfate levels was related to BMI in postmenopausal women with estrogen receptor-positive breast cancer.
