2016 Trade Calendar - New Year Brings Key Dates For TPP, China NME, Along With Familiar Deadlines

Next year's trade agenda will include some new deadlines related to the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and China's treatment under antidumping cases, along with the familiar ones for the President's trade policy agenda and the annual listing of foreign trade practices that the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative issues each spring. The first deadline related to TPP is the expiration of the congressional review period on Feb. 3, which, according to the rules of the fast-track law, means the president could sign the agreement the next day. The administration wants to move forward with the congressional consideration of TPP as soon as possible after that, but procedurally has to wait for the International Trade Commission (ITC) to finish its analysis of the agreement's impact on the U.S. economy in mid-May. That report traditionally gets sent to Congress with the implementing bill.
