EU Trade Report Targets U.S. SPS Rules, Says TTIP Provides New Forum

The European Union used its annual report on foreign trade barriers released last week to throw a new spotlight on a litany of sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) barriers faced by EU exporters to the United States, while calling the U.S.-EU free trade talks an "opportunity to discuss SPS issues in a new context." The 11-page Trade and Investment Barriers Report - which lists trade problems in countries around the world - includes only a short portion oh the U.S., but the section is dominated entirely by SPS problems. It lists issues present in the EU's 2013 report as well as some that were absent from the previous year's version of the document.
