摘要

Alan Kyerematen, Ghana's candidate for the slot of World Trade Organization director-general, this week stressed the importance of securing a package at the December WTO ministerial in Bali that addresses the interests of all members as part of a larger framework for unblocking the negotiating function in Geneva. Underscoring the difficulty of such a task, Kyerematen noted that there is disagreement over what ministers should achieve at Bali, with some countries pushing for a narrow agreement on trade facilitation and other WTO members - mostly developing countries - insisting on a larger deal that includes more of their own priorities, such as agriculture.
