Automated teller machines (ATMs), smart cards, Internet purchases—what would we do without these luxuries? The technology that allows us to live in this fast-paced information age involves encryption algorithms that ensure information security. And with the rapid rate of changing computer technology, algorithms need to change as well to keep up with that security. That's why the cryptographic community needs a new encryption standard.
