I appreciate Greg Shinskey's passionate defense of PID (May 2005 InTech Letters)in response to my article (March 2005 InTech "Is PID?").However it was not my intent to advocate wholesale replacement of PID,nor was it to provide an exhaustive technical comparison of model-based control and PID.I simply wanted to introduce InTech readers to recent advances in model-based control,specifically model-predictive control at the single-loop level.
