First global conference on organic aquaculture a great success

Some 250 delegates from 33 countries around the world converged on the pleasant southern Vietnamese city of Ho Chi Minn from 15-17 June 2004 for the first ever global technical and trade conference on organic aquaculture. Organised jointly by INFOFISH, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), ORGANIC AQUA-CULTURE & SEA FARMING 2004 was supported by an impressive array of international and regional organisations. These included the Swiss Import Promotion Programme (SIPPO), the German certification organisation Naturland, Network of Aquaculture Centres in Asia-Pacific (NACA). Asian Fisheries Society (AFS), Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) and the European Aquaculture Society (EAS).
