A three-dimensional (3D) Yb(III)-Ag(I) heterometallic coordination polymer (HCP), formulated as [Yb2Ag2 (sba)2(ina)4(H2O)3]_n·nH2O (1) (Hina = isonicotinic acid, H2sba = 2-sulfobenzoic acid), has been synthesized under hydrothermal condition. It was characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction, powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), infrared (IR) spectroscopy, elemental analysis (EA), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Solid-state photoluminescent (PL) property investigation performed on 1 revealed that it showed dual emissions in the visible and near-infrared (NIR) regions upon excitation at 380 nm.
