A stubborn excess of flake graphite supply in China has suppressed the potential for upward price pressure, caused by slowing production in the country. The northern hemisphere winter months normally see a slight uptick in the FOB price of Chinese graphite as supply tightens, but this was proving sluggish to emerge by late November.
