Cape to pay 21m pounds. to settle SA asbestos claims

Cape PLC has agreed to pay 21m pounds. compensation in an out-of-court settlement for asbestos claims related to its former South African operations. The settlement is a victory for the 7,500 claimants that commenced their action in 1997.The breakthrough in the five-year struggle came within months of construction group, Montpellier Group plc taking control of Cape by increasing its ownership stake by 10 percent to 29.9 percent and installing Paul Sellars as chairman.
