The rare earths industry called for a concerted action to recycle rare earths from end-products in Europe at the ERECON 2014 conference, held in Milan, Italy towards the end of October 2014. Danilo Bonato, president of the Italian consortium KeMedia, said that there was growing potential for urban mines in Europe to supply rare earths within 10 years, owing to the large consumption of cars and mobile phones in the region.
