摘要

While most jobs carry their share of stress, those in the clinical care setting can certainly be counted among the more highly taxing. Clinical engineers (CEs) and biomedical equipment technicians (BMETs), in particular, may sometimes find themselves feeling frustrated, exhausted, and even useless when faced with the daily demands of their professions, played out in the fast-paced, corporate, and increasingly technical environment of hospitals. "We work in a difficult profession because we care about patients," says Matt Baretich, president of Baretich Engineering, Inc., in Fort Collins, CO. "When we begin to stop caring, our work suffers and our sense of satisfaction deteriorates." But how do you know if you're experiencing true job burnout, and what can you do about it?
